The new
downloadable content deviates slightly from the others in that there are
no new competitive multiplayer maps, but instead five levels for the
Zombies co-op mode - four of which are remastered from Call Of Duty:
World At War.
World At War was the first game to feature Zombies mode, so the levels
Nacht der Untoten, Verruckt, Der Riese, and Shi no Numa will all be
making a comeback. (The first three names in German mean Night of the
Undead, Insane, and The Giant, the fourth is Japanese for Swamp of
Death.)
'If you were introduced to Zombies gameplay with Black Ops, these are
the historical maps that will fill in some of the backstory for you -
and in addition to updated weapons and polish, they each still have
their own surprises to offer,' says Activision.
The fifth map is called Moon, but instead of Sam Rockwell it features
hordes of the undead. There are few details but we're warned that the
'rules of engagement are changing' and that there will be surprises.
Maybe this will be Call Of Duty: Space Warfare by the back door?
As usual the download will be out on Xbox 360 first, where it will be
released on 23rd August for 1200 Microsoft Points (£10.20). However, if
you own the Hardened and Prestige versions of the game the whole
download will be absolutely free, 'as a thank-you to the hardcore fans
for their support from the start'.
There's no date for the PlayStation 3 and PC versions, but it's usually
about a month later. The download will also include a Moon dashboard
theme and 'the official Zombies soundtrack, featuring three new tracks'.
